The Copley Police Department's Annual Bike Rodeo will be held June 4th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Home Depot parking lot.  This event is designed to help children understand the importance of bicycle safety.  The rodeo is an opportunity for local children and their parents to learn how to stay safe while riding their bikes this summer.  The annual Bike Rodeo is a chance for children to get their bikes inspected, win prizes, participate in various riding events, meet Police Officers and enjoy a free hot dog and soda.  This years' prizes will include bike helmets and water bottles.  There will also be a drawing for a new bike.  This annual event is an extension of the Copley Police Department's community policing services and is an excellent opportunity for the area children and their parents to interact with their Police Department and Fire Department personnel in a positive way.  For more information please call Lt. Jack Simone 330-670-2714.

REPUBLIC SERVICES would like to remind residents when putting out bagged trash or yard waste to please limit the weight to 50 pounds per bag or, if there is space, place the bag in your 96 gallon trash cart.  In the event the bag was not collected check for an orange sticker that will explain why it was left.  It may be necessary to split the contents of the bag into two bags to reduce the weight.  If the bag was not collected and there is no orange sticker please leave it because it will be collected by another truck that services bulky items.

ODOT WORK - COPLEY TOWNSHIP - click here to view entire project plans

Beginning May 9, 2016, the Ohio Dept. of Transportation (ODOT) will be performing 4 different projects in Copley Township.  The projects are the improvement of the exit ramp from I77 to southbound SR21 to make the exit ramp safer, the removal of the existing and installation of new median turnarounds on SR21 south of Copley Road to better accomodate emergency vehicles, and the installation of acceleration and deceleration lanes on SR21 on both the northbound and southbound sides at Minor Road.  The I77/SR21 ramp and the SR21 median turnaround work will take place first.  The SR21 ramp will be closed for 14 days and traffic will be maintained on both sides of SR21 south of Copley Road.  The detour route for the ramp closure will be I77 to Ghent Road.  Vehicles may exit Ghent Road and reenter I77 southbound.  Once the ramp and median work has been completed, the installation of the acceleration and deceleration lanes will begin. Access to SR21 will be closed at Minor Road but local traffic will have access up to that point.  Advance warning signs will be posted at Medina Line Road and Cleveland-Massillon Road at both ends of Minor Road informing traffic that there is no access to SR21.  The completion date for these projects is June 30.

The 2016 Copley Safety Town School will be conducted Monday, July 11 through Friday, July 15, 2016 at Copley-Fairlawn Middle School, 1531 South Cleveland-Massillon Road.  Please see applications below for children entering kindergarten and student volunteer forms.

Attention!  The morning session is full; however openings remain in the 1:00 pm to 3:30 p.m. session.

In October 2015, the Copley Township Board of Trustees awarded a five-year single hauler bid to REPUBLIC SERVICES for residential trash and recycling services.  The service takes effect January 1, 2016.  This program reduces the cost of trash and recycling collection for our residents, reduces the amount of truck traffic on our road system, and makes annual trash and recycling reporting to county authorities easier.

Copley Township is one of the last communities in Summit County to enter into such a contract where they have been used successfully by those communities for several years.

Exemptions:  Condominium and apartment associations.

Please contact Republic Services at 1-800-247-3644 to sign up for service.  Your current hauler will collect their containers.

Questions?  Call 1-800-247-3644.
