The Townships of Bath and Copley and the City of Fairlawn, assisted by professionals in the field from Chambrel Montrose and Copley Health Center, are putting together an active senior fair for area seniors. The four-hour event will focus on everything imaginable that interests senior citizens. Included are health care providers to legal assistance, nutritional needs, educational opportunities, home safety and security, home repair assistance, transportation assistance, home caregivers. You name it and it will be there. Questionnaires will be available for determination of future events and activities. This event is a functional and cost effective partnership between government and private sector.
The active senior fair evolved from an inquiry from Copley residents Bill and Kay Daniel about a senior center for township residents. Copley Trustees started to gather information from Alicia Holland, Director of Copley Health Center. One year later, she contacted Copley and offered to host an informational meeting and included Carol Shemenski from Chambrel Montrose. At that same time, Bath Trustee Becky Corbett was seeking information on senior services. To that end, Helen Humphrys representing Copley Trustees and Becky Corbett representing Bath Trustees got together with Copley Health Center and Chambrel Montrose along with whom else, but Bill and Kay Daniel.
The long-term goal is to keep our seniors active and to help them remain in their homes, which also stabilizes neighborhoods. Planning a series of events and activities held at various facilities throughout the area will energize senior residents to get out and live life to its fullest.
