Stormwater Complaint Hotline

Copley Township has established a Storm Water Complaint Hotline for the purpose of allowing their residents a quick and easy method to report any water discoloration, illicit discharges, or illegal dumping that could be polluting roadside ditches, creeks, and waterways. Copley residents should call 330-666-8866 if they believe there is a concern.

Copley Township is required by the United States EPA to establish and implement a Storm Water Management Plan to eliminate illicit discharges into waterways.  An illicit discharge is defined as any discharge that is not entirely composed of storm water, except for non-storm water categories that are specifically allowed.  Examples of some of these types of allowable discharges are fire fighting operations, irrigation water, air conditioning condensate, and water line flushing.  Illicit discharges, which are pollution-containing wastewaters, enter into storm drains or directly into local waters without receiving appropriate treatment.  Discharges may be intentional or may be unknown to the discharger.  Sources of illicit discharges can include items such as improperly connected floor drains, improper dumping practices (such as dumping used oil products into a catch basin or ditch), sump pumps that discharge washing machine wastewaters, and failing septic systems.  One of the tools that Copley Township has decided to utilize in their Storm Water Management Plan is the Storm Water Complaint Hotline.  The purpose of the hotline is to provide Copley Township residents an easy way to report illicit discharge and pollution concerns to Township personnel so they may determine the source of the discharge and take appropriate action.  The Hotline number is 330-666-8866.
