Brush Collection: The Township Service Department collects brush, (tree and bush trimmings, not grass clippings, loose leaves, or dirt), placed, unbundled at the roadside, in front of single-family homes. Dates and other instructions about the collection will be published at appropriate times.

Tire Collection: The Service Department along with the Kiwanis host a tire drop-off each fall. Dates and other instructions about this collection will be published at appropriate times.

Christmas Tree Collection: Each year the Service Department collects Christmas trees placed at the roadside. This occurs early in January. Exact dates are published well in advance. Christmas trees are turned into useful mulch. This saves space in landfills and saves residents from incurring extra charges on trash hauling bills.

Hazardous Waste: Summit/Akron Solid Waste Management Authority's Household Hazardous Waste Recycling Center at 1201 Graham Road in Stow (next to the Carter Lumber Company) is open from April 1 through September 30 each year. The Center is open on Tuesdays from 1-4 p.m. and Wednesdays from 6:30 p.m. -9:30 p.m. and the telephone number is 330-374-0383. The Center accepts paints (latex, oil, and solvent based), paint thinners and removers, pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, fertilizers, household cleaners, drain cleaners, floor care products, automobile fluids, used motor oil, anti-freeze, batteries, aerosol cans, propane cylinders, smoke detectors, and asbestos (double bagged) all at no charge. The asbestos needs to be wetted down and 3' x 3' or smaller. There will be a charge of $1 per tire, on or off the rims.

This facility is for residential use only and will not accept commercially or industrially generated hazardous waste materials. The facility is to be used exclusively by residents of Summit County.

Recycling: Curbside recycling service is to be provided to you by your trash hauler. Just call your current trash hauler and request a recycle bin to get started! For recycling of large items such as appliances, computers, or grasscycling, please contact the Summit/Akron Solid Waste Management Authority at 330-374-0383 or log on to www.saswma.org
