Permits from the Zoning Office are required for all new construction including such structures as houses, additions (including porches), barns and other accessory buildings, gazebos, decks, swimming pools, etc.

A permit is required for occupations carried out within the home or on property zoned for residential purposes. The purpose is to prevent activities which might disrupt the residential nature of a neighborhood.

Installation of concrete driveways also requires a permit to assure construction methods that mesh properly with the roadway, do not obstruct drainage, etc. Permits for drives entering Township maintained roadways may be issued in the Township Zoning Office. If the drive enters a County maintained roadway, the Summit County Engineers Office issues the permit.
