This years Stand Down will have something for all veterans. We will be giving new boots, new winter coats, hygiene kits, hats, socks, gloves, thermal underwear, t-shirts, etc to those veterans that need them. The VA will be there to do screenings, military ID cards, claims, benefits, help them get their DD214, vaccines, boosters and flu shots. Goodwill gives every veteran a $40 voucher to shop at their store. METRO transit gives out bus passes. And here's what's new this year. Job fair: for any veteran who wants a good paying job. We have Amazon, Dominion, Fedex, Goodyear, Home Depot, and many other local employers. Academic resources: for any veteran who wants to get a degree or a skill we will have 2 year, 4 year, technical and vocational institutions as well as training for specific union trades. There will be a Veterans Appreciation Day with gifts, prizes and a free catered meal for all veterans, volunteers, vendors and staff. There will be free haircuts from Akron Barber College and other professional barbers. Also new this year will be veteran only recreational groups (fishing, horse riding and therapy and guitar lessons).
