[ARCHIVED] FEMA Hazard Mitigation Assistance for Flood Prone Properties

FEMA Logo

Later this year, FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) will be issuing a Notice of Funding for Hazard Mitigation Assistance. This is a competitive funding program designed to purchase properties in flood prone areas where properties owners are voluntarily willing to relocate due to significant reoccurring flooding. Copley Township anticipates working with Summit County to submit an application on behalf of several property owners but the more properties included in the application, the more competitive it will be. There are two important factors when determining if a property is eligible, one the property owner must be voluntarily willing to relocate, and secondly, the property must be currently covered under the National Insurance Flood Program. For questions, please contact Loudan Klein, Director of Community and Economic Development at 330.666.0108 or lklein@copley.oh.us.
